2025 Championship Tour To Kick Off At Pipeline

Published on 29/01/2025

The 2025 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) season officially returns to action this week at Banzai Pipeline. The event window runs from January 27 through to February 8.

Last year’s Pipeline Pro runner-up and current World No.5, Molly Picklum, who made history with an iconic 10-point ride, will look to go one better this year and continue a run of impressive performances in Hawaii when competition commences.

World Title threat and Olympic Silver Medallist, Jack Robinson, etched his name into Pipe history after winning in 2023. Coming off the back of a massive year in 2024, Robinson now looks to secure his second Pipeline Masters win.

The 2025 Pipeline Pro will see a new class of Australian talent hit the water, as Joel Vaughan and George Pittar make their Rookie appearances as full-time Championship Tour athletes. Pittar is no newcomer to the pressure of CT competition, sending warning signals to Tour surfers in 2024 after placing =3rd at the Margaret River Pro as a wildcard in his first-ever CT event.

Olympian and World No.5 Ethan Ewing, along with Liam O’Brien and Ryan Callinan, will also be ones to watch at Pipeline. Ewing, known for his smooth yet powerful approach, will be aiming to build momentum early in the season after finishing strong in 2024. Callinan, a stylish goofy-footer, will be looking to make a deep run at Pipe to establish himself as a serious contender for this year’s Top 5. O’Brien will face fellow Australian Jack Robinson in his opening round heat as he looks to start his 2025 season.

After falling off Tour after the cut in 2024, Sally Fitzgibbons and Isabella Nichols brought dominant and impressive surfing to the Challenger Series to earn their well-deserved positions back on tour. 2X World Champion Tyler Wright, has steadily cemented herself as a formidable force in heavy-water conditions, and will look to take her first-ever win this year at the 2025 Pipeline Pro.
