CASUARINA/NSW( December 14th /2020): Australian Boardrider Clubs are set to receive a healthy shot of funding through the Woolworths Fresh Grant Program to further support the nurturing a healthy and active lifestyle through surfing. The ten blocks of $2000 will be granted based upon a club’s formally submitted application putting their best foot forward, providing evidence of junior surfing development through membership and initiative in a healthy and active lifestyle at a grass-roots level.Woolworths Brand Ambassador and World Surf League (WSL) star Soli Bailey said: “It’s so important kids get the opportunity to be healthy and active. Boardriders Clubs can play a massive role in ensuring this happens with their junior members. If they are doing a great job educating the groms, they put themselves in the running for a big cash injection through the Woolworths Fresh Grant Program.”Through the application process on Surfing Australia’s website, clubs will be able to show evidence of providing their juniors with the opportunity to surf as part of a boardriders club and what they do as a group to educate and facilitate healthy, active lifestyles in and out of the water.Woolworths General Manager Community Peter O’Sullivan said: “We’re proud of our long-standing partnership with Surfing Australia and working together to encourage young Australians to live a more active lifestyle centred around fresh food and community sport.“We’re confident the Woolworths Fresh Food grants will help foster the next wave of young surfers and support Boardrider Clubs’ fantastic efforts to support healthy communities across Australia.”Surfing Australia’s Participation & Community Manager Board Rider Clubs & Judging Glen Elliott said: “This initiative from Woolworths speaks volumes as to their commitment to keeping kids healthy and active. Good boardrider clubs have always been about healthy eating and living from the beginning but with grants like this now available, our next batch of world champions have an even stronger start to their careers through the boardrider club networks.“Take Soli Bailey as an example. He’s been a long term member of Bryon Bay Boardriders and clearly knows how to look after himself through a nutritious diet and exercise regime.”Woolworths is the naming rights partner of Surfing Australia’s junior competitive series the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps, the Woolworths State Title Series across the country and a support partner to the nudie SurfGroms Program.to apply head over to www.surfingaustralia.com/freshgrant
