Byron Bay Boardriders Club and North Shelly Boardriders receive wildcard spots for the 2026 ABB Grand Final presented by NRMA Insurance.

Australia’s biggest grassroots surfing series, the Australian Boardriders Battle (ABB), has officially wrapped up, proving once again that grassroots surfing is thriving and that boardrider clubs are the heartbeat of Australian surfing.

After 2 months, 8 events, 6 states, 83 boardrider clubs, and 415 surfers40 boardrider clubs had already qualified for the 2026 ABB Grand Final presented by NRMA Insurance, leaving just 2 wildcard spots remaining.

Surfing Australia has today announced the clubs receiving those wildcard spots, Byron Bay Boardriders Club and North Shelly Boardriders.

Wildcard selection was based solely on recent results, with Byron Bay Boardriders Club taking the national title in 2023, and North Shelly Boardriders in 2022.

A massive congratulations to all 42 boardrider clubs that have qualified for the 2026 ABB Grand Final presented by NRMA Insurance.
