The Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle NSW North regional qualifier is set to kick off this Saturday in Coffs Harbour. A record 12 boardrider clubs will compete, with six qualifying for the national final, which will be held early next year at Burleigh Heads, QLD.
Surfing NSW Contest Director Corey Ross said: “We are looking forward to heading up to Coffs for the first stop of the NSW ABB series qualifiers. Conditions for the weekend are looking a little tricky, big south swell and plenty of rain predicted, but it doesn’t stop the spirits of these clubs. Coffs provides us with plenty of options, so no matter the conditions, it’s going to be a great day of surfing and club spirit!”
Competing clubs include Coffs Harbour, Sawtell, Woolgoolga, Le-Ba (Lennox/Ballina), Byron Bay, Black Rocks, Port Macquarie, Kingscliff, Boomerang, Cabarita, Angourie, and Saltwater.
Le-Ba is eager to reclaim their title after their three-year winning streak was broken last year by the Coffs Harbour Boardriders, who came out on top.
The primary competition location is set for Macauleys, with backup locations including Park Beach, Gallows, and Diggers Beach.
Competitors are advised to monitor Surfing Australia and Surfing NSW social media for updates on the confirmed location and running order, which will be announced on the morning of the competition.

About Australian Boardrider Clubs:
There are more than 230 boardrider clubs across the country, where members gather regularly, often monthly, to organise grassroots competitions at world-class waves such as Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. The boardrider club phenomenon in Australia has made a significant contribution to the nation’s competitive success on the global stage, fostering close-knit communities that support young surfers on their journeys to becoming the next World Champions.
Surfing Australia last year expanded the Grand Final format to include 42 boardrider clubs (previously 24) from across Australia, with more than $115, 000 in total prize money up for grabs throughout the series.
The Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle Series is proudly supported by naming partner Hyundai and support partners Jim Beam, ACCIONA, Ruffie Rustic Foods, BC™ Protein Snacks, Kennards Hire, Oakley, Dometic, Boost Mobile, Blackroll and Surfers for Climate.
The Hyundai ABB Gold Coast Grand Final is supported by Experience Gold Coast and the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland.
