El Salvador to host the 2024 ISA World Junior Surfing Championships

Published on 24/01/2024

The International Surfing Association (ISA) has announced that the 2024 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship (WJSC) will be hosted by Surf City El Salvador on May 3 – 12, 2024, at the now iconic waves of La Bocana and El Sunzal.

The 20th edition of the championship will be the second time for Surf City El Salvador to host the world’s best junior surfers, after the historic 2022 event.

33 out of the 40 Tokyo 2020 Olympic surfers previously participated in the WJSC, proving this prestigious event to be a direct pathway to the Olympic Games, with 16 of them claiming ISA World Junior medals, including Olympic Bronze Medalist Owen Wright (AUS).

Past ISA World Junior Champions also include Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), and Paris 2024 qualified surfer Tyler Wright (AUS).
