Surfing Australia is proud to announce the release of Molly’s Way, a short film by Surfing Australia Studios that follows the rise of the 2025 World Champion, Molly Picklum.
Molly’s Way celebrates Molly’s (well-known as ‘Pickles’), journey through Surfing Australia’s pathway, from a high-energy grom to World No.1.
Before the world title, before the noise around her name got a whole lot louder, there was a kid on the Central Coast swinging at anything that moved. No overthinking. No tidy lines. Just instinct and a willingness to send it when most wouldn’t.

The film showcases the moments that don’t always make the highlight reel: loud, a little chaotic, and the raw energy that has always set Mol apart. Featuring early footage and the behind-the-scenes of her title campaign, the film pieces together her story through the eyes of those who have had a front-row seat: Vaughan Blakey, Glen ‘Micro’ Hall, Ryan Fletcher, Joel Vaughan, Hughie Vaughan, Kobie Enright and many more.
Molly’s Way takes viewers from Molly’s home breaks on the Central Coast to the world stage, celebrating the grit, determination, and energy that have defined her career.
Over the course of the film, Molly faces some of the sport’s most challenging events, culminating in the 2025 Final 5. After an unstoppable 2025 season, a world title seemed inevitable. Deserved. But nothing was guaranteed.
Molly didn’t make it easy. Not for herself, not for anyone watching. Every Aussie remembers the slow burn of watching the title go the distance, dragged into a third match heat. Heart rate up, no way out but through.
Molly Picklum reflected on the surreal moment of achieving a lifelong dream, capturing the emotion of a journey that has taken her from grommet to world champion:
“I signed up for the journey of it all, and I can’t believe a world title has become a part of it. I literally feel like one of the little kids screaming, but I’m the one with the trophy.”
11x World Champion Kelly Slater praised Molly Picklum’s fearless approach and the impact she’s having on the women’s field:
“Molly is awesome. She’s sending it. She’s a great surfer, but what really stands out is how hard she charges. She’s got no fear, especially in heavier waves, and she’s really pushing the level for the women. I think coming into this event, that probably put a bit of pressure on the rest of the field, just knowing what she’s capable of in conditions like these. And honestly, if the waves had been bigger, she might have even pulled further ahead. But yeah, Molly’s great. Great attitude, great surfer. I’m super happy for her.”
Same kid. Bigger stage. Done Molly’s way. Proof that sometimes, the best thing you can do is be exactly who you are, with a touch of ‘Cenny Coast grit’. — Hughie Vaughan
