Dark Hollow turned on perfect conditions over the weekend for the Tasmanian leg of the Australian Boardriders Battle regional series, with light offshore winds, sunshine, and clean 2–3ft left and rightpeaks rolling through the iconic Dark Hollow Beach.
In an outstanding display of teamwork and talent, North East Boardriders dominated from the first heat through to the final, securing a back-to-back wins ahead of South Arm Boardriders in second and Park Beach Boardriders Club in third.
The event saw some exceptional performances throughout the day. Jy Johannesen (Noth West Boardriders) claimed the Boost Mobile Wave of the Day, while the Celsius Overall Performer Award went to Kyle Cooper (South Arm Boardriders), and the Jim Beam Team Spirit Award was deservedly awarded to Park Beach Boardriders Club, recognising their energy and enthusiasm both in and out of the water.
North East Boardriders President and Surfer Andy Hoult praised his team’s determination, adding:
“A huge thanks to Surfing Australia and Surfing Tasmania for putting on this event and to all the sponsors for making it happen. I’d also like to congratulate all teams for such a great day— that final was incredibly close. It’s been a long time coming for North East to go Back To Back after winning last year, we’re absolutely stoked to get the win. Up the North East!”
With their top-two finishes, North East Boardriders and South Arm Boardriders have both earned a place at the Australian Boardriders Battle Grand Final presented by NRMA Insurance, set to take place at Burleigh Heads on 7–8 March 2026.
