The Australian Surf Championships return to Port Macquarie next week. Hundreds of surfers will make their way to the NSW north coast for the 17-day event starting on the 4th of August.

The sixth Australian Para Surfing Titles will be held on the 13th of August alongside the Shortboard, Longboard & Logger Titles and Bodyboard Titles.

Sam Bloom (Newport, NSW) is a three-time Australian title winner and will be competing in the prone non assist division, which she won last year.

“It’s definitely getting more competitive which is great, the sport is growing every year.”

Bloom said it was an absolute honour to be crowned Australia champion.

“What I love about the Australian Surf Championships is the fact that there are more competitors every year, which is awesome, and the chance to make it on the Australian team and represent your country. It makes you feel incredibly proud.”
