Surfing Australia partners with Local Pegs to offer Woolworths SurfGroms local discounts in Bondi, Ballina & Byron

Published on 05/12/2023

Surfing Australia is excited to announce a new partnership with Local Pegs who will offer local discounts to the Woolworths SurfGroms program in selected regions starting with Bondi, Ballina and Byron.

The new initiative aims to encourage more kids to learn how to surf while teaching vital beach safety and awareness skills.

Surfing Australia’s Chief of Sport, Luke Madden said: “We’re stoked to announce this unique collaboration between Local Pegs and Surfing Australia, and the Woolworths SurfGroms program. We truly believe that this partnership can change the way Woolworths SurfGroms is delivered for years to come. At Surfing Australia, we’re passionately committed to nurturing young surfers and fostering a healthy lifestyle within local communities. The Surfing Australia Woolworths SurfGroms program stands at the forefront of this mission, offering local kids the chance to experience surfing for the first time and hopefully become a surfer for life.”

Local Pegs is offering discounts for the current season across selected regions and hopes to expand the offer to more groms next year.

The discount will be provided via a discount code available on surfgroms.com booking pages and applicable surf schools’ Woolworths SurfGroms booking pages.

Local Pegs CEO, Adam Russel said: “Forming this partnership with Surfing Australia and being able to work closely with the SurfGroms program is a fantastic moment for us at Local Pegs. Our team at Local Pegs know that creating a society where Locals Support Locals begins at the grassroots level. We are excited to be a key driver on that journey.”

Local Pegs Business Development Manager, Darcy Voumard said: “It’s also a particularly proud moment for me personally. My surfing journey began in grassroots programs just like SurfGroms at Lets Go Surfing (LGS), Bondi Beach, when I was only five years old. I loved it so much that by 19, I was a senior surf instructor at LGS where it was well known among all, that teaching SurfGroms programs was something that I took massive pride in. Now, having the ability through our Local Pegs sponsorship, to help grow and develop the SurfGroms program in a bigger-picture way gives me great satisfaction. I’m a firm believer that SurfGroms programs help grow resilient, community-minded people. SurfGroms, with its focus on community and youth development, is the very essence of what Local Pegs is about.”
