Tweed Coast To Host Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps National Final This Weekend

CASUARINA/NSW (Thursday, December 16th, 2021): The 2021 Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps National Final is set to land on the Tweed Coast this week from Friday 17th December as Surfing Australia’s High Performance Centre (HPC) hosts the cream of the crop in the Under 14 Girls and Boys divisions from another successful series. 

The respective winners of the Under 14 Boys’ and Girls’ divisions from each event will attend the all-expenses-paid, three-day Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps National Final Surf Camp, (1-day coaching clinic, 2 days of competition and heat analysis coaching at the HPC).

Surfing Australia CEO Chris Mater said: ” Qualifying for the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps  National Final is a great reward for epic performances during the series and to see the best of the best kids ripping on the Tweed Coast will be great! Good luck to all over the weekend.”

Regarded as one of the major stepping stones in the development of young Australian surfers, the 10-event Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps series caters for surfers from Under 8 to Under 14 and was held in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, Tasmania and South Australia over summer.

For the South Australian, Victorian and Tasmanian events, the Woolworths Surf Camp prize has been awarded to the highest place Under-14 Boy and Girl who reside in that respective State.

Each division of the 2021 Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps has been added to the 2021 Surfing Australia National Junior Rankings with each event rated at 5500pts for first place with points descending respectively. A result at this event will contribute to a competitor’s overall National Junior Ranking.
