The Australian Bodyboard Titles have concluded at URBNSURF Sydney, where nearly 100 of the nation’s top bodyboard and dropknee athletes went head-to-head in perfect conditions. URBNSURF Sydney’s world-class wave pool technology delivered machine-perfect waves all day, allowing riders to thread deep barrels, launch progressive manoeuvres, and push the sport to new levels of performance and innovation.
URBNSURF Sydney representative Luke Warzecha (Sydney, NSW) was thrilled to be apart of history.
“We’re thrilled to play host to this historic event at URBNSURF Sydney. The Lagoon provides a consistent high-performance wave in a controlled environment, enhancing fairness in competition. It’s been exciting to watch some of Australia’s top bodyboarders push the limits of what’s possible here.”

Ebony Schell (Mindarie, WA) has made history again, claiming her fourth consecutive Australian Open Women’s Bodyboard Champion. In what was an incredibly close heat, she claimed victory over Mariko Menzies (NSW) by just 1.6 pts!
“I’m so stoked to take the victory! It was so close and came down to the final moments. All the girls surfed amazingly — what a great way to showcase women’s bodyboarding! Everyone was ripping.
Massive shoutout to my parents for their endless support, and to all the girls who made this such a special competition.”
Making history with his first Australian Championship, Lloyd Ogden (Newcastle, NSW) rose to the occasion when the pressure was on taking out the Open Men’s Division.
“I’m absolutely frothing — this is my first Australian Championship! Today was all about enjoying the process and having fun, and winning feels like a dream come true. You just have to get out there and give it your all while you can. This format brought plenty of pressure, it’s all about high risk for high reward. The adrenaline was pumping, but when it pays off, it’s totally worth it.”

Liam O’Toole (Gold Coast, QLD) scored himself the highest score of the day with a perfect 10 and a victory in the Masters Over 35 Division.
“It’s so special to take out the Masters division for Queensland and bring the title home. I came second in the Opens this year, so I’m really stoked with this win. I’ve come close when I was younger, but it feels amazing to finally bring it home for Queensland. Surfing on the right, I managed a perfect 10 — working the outside section, getting barrelled, rolling out, landing back in the barrel, and finishing with a backflip right into the barrel. The wave pool really allowed us to dial it all in.”

Surfing Australia Event Organiser Rohan Fell (Casuarina, NSW) thought the standard of surfing on display was outstanding.
“We were excited to be at URBNSURF Sydney for the first-ever Australian Championship in a wave pool. It was an incredible day of competition with an electric atmosphere around the event site. The athletes made the most of the perfect, consistent waves and really pushed the limits with deep barrels and progressive manoeuvres — it was an exciting new chapter for the sport.”
