Forward Ability Support and BrightSky Australia, in partnership with four-time World Para Surfing Champion Sam Bloom, hit URBNSURF Sydney this week for a historic spinal cord injury surf session as part of the Live Well Together Program.
The biggest event of its kind brought together more than 35 people with spinal cord injuries for an unforgettable afternoon in the waves — with some athletes getting back on a board for the first time in 27 years.
Australia’s para surfing community continues to grow in both size and success, with the 2025 Australian Parasurfing Team bringing home an individual gold, a team copper, and eight additional medals at the recent ISA Para Surfing Championship in Oceanside, California.
