ACCIONA And Surfing Australia Ink Three Year Partnership Extension

Published on 26/09/2020

CASUARINA/NSW (September 24th/2020): Sustainable infrastructure company ACCIONA and Surfing Australia have signed a three-year extension to their fruitful partnership.
ACCIONA will continue as a major support partner of key Surfing Australia program, the nudie Australian Boardriders Battle, Australia’s biggest grassroots boardriders event series involving over $100,000 prizemoney across eight state events and a large-scale National Final. ACCIONA’s involvement in the national final earlier this year saw the event granted carbon neutral status – a first for Surfing Australia.
ACCIONA will be visible at both the state qualifying rounds and National Final again in 2021, with activations like the ‘ACCIONA Recycle Station’ powered by Envirobank and an ACCIONA beach clean-up on finals day. This activity will be supported by a custom digital content series around sustainability.
ACCIONA CEO, Australia & New Zealand, Bede Noonan said, “ACCIONA is delighted to renew our partnership with Surfing Australia and align with a like-minded organisation that shares our passion for a sustainable and emissions-free future. Through our partnership, we hope to raise awareness of the impact of climate change and water pollution as well as to inspire and encourage diversity while also advocating a healthy lifestyle for our employees. We are also extremely pleased to have an aspiring student engineer, Isabella Nichols, as our ambassador.”
The extended partnership will be leveraged by World Surf League (WSL) rookie Isabella Nichols with a renewed focus on women’s participation through two ACCIONA Women & Girls workshops held within schools to encourage young women and girls to get involved in a career in STEM, as Isabella herself is doing through the engineering degree she is undertaking.
“Pairing up with ACCIONA & Surfing Australia for another year really excites me! ACCIONA is a brand that 100% aligns with my values and I’m very keen to get behind the women in STEM programs that will be rolled out in the near future! I also look forward to working with them to make surfing a more environmentally sustainable sport/pastime,” said Isabella Nichols.
Surfing Australia will run a national surf day for ACCIONA staff at four locations around Australia (VIC, NSW, QLD and WA) on separate days so staff and their families can experience the health benefits of being in the ocean while sharing quality time together.
ACCIONA and Surfing Australia Studios will produce branded content throughout the partnership that will feature ambassador Isabella Nichols, and be highly visible across Surfing Australia’s media channels.
Surfing Australia CEO Chris Mater said: “We at Surfing Australia are stoked to have ACCIONA continue as a partner across the business with a renewed focus on women’s participation and the environment. Isabella Nichols is the ultimate ambassador across both brands and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve over the next three years and beyond together.”
