Entries open for the 2023 YETI Australian Junior Online Surf Championships

Published on 17/11/2022

Hosted by Steph Gilmore and Mick Fanning, the 2023 Yeti Australian Junior Online Surfing Championships were set up during COVID to give equal opportunity to junior surfers nationally at their local breaks. Its success has seen the event continue and this year it has an exciting new format.

We’re expanding the divisions to include U12 Boys and Girls and opening up competition to all Australian juniors with no state qualification required (previously invite-only).

There are National Junior Rankings points up for grabs in the U12 – U18 Male and Female divisions (5500 pts for first place) as well as individual success and loads of YETI prizes.

The competition window opens on January 1, 2023 and will run over eight-weeks. Entries will remain open until midnight on February 28, 2023 and winners will be announced on March 6, 2023, after judging.

Head Olympic judge Glen Elliott will lead a three-person panel with surfers to be judged on their best one wave via video submission. Competitors can swap out their entries right until the close of the competition window.

Surfers can compete in a range of other categories once they enter their applicable age division including Best Air, Best Barrel and Best Wipeout. Please note, these categories will be prize based and have no associated rankings points.

The Championships use the Clippero online platform for competitor submissions and judging throughout the competition period, allowing simple, easy to follow upload instructions.

Upon entry a unique board sticker pack will be dispatched to each competitor’s nominated address.

The YETI Australian Junior Online Surf Championships are supported by YETI, Surfing Australia, Surfing New South Wales, Surfing Queensland, Surfing Victoria, Surfing Western Australia, Surfing South Australia and Surfing Tasmania.
