Published on 27/04/2021

NEWCASTLE/NSW(April 27th/2021): Aerial specialists from 24 of Australia’s best Boardriders Clubs will take to the skies in four separate half-hour-long heats as the Hyundai Electric Air Exhibition gets set to boost entertainment levels at the 2021 Australian Boardriders Battle National Final at Newcastle Main Beach over the weekend of May 15th/16th.

Huge moves will be thrown down over the two days as the keys to a Hyundai Kona Electric car for a year await the winner of the Electric Air Exhibition, an amazing prize set to up the ante of aerial antics performed (one competitor per club).

A Hyundai blimp will hover above the lineup, dangling the keys to the new Hyundai within reach of competitors during the four exhibition time slots. Best aerial of the day by a surfer who grabs the keys, WINS!

“It’s Hyundai’s business mantra to push the boundaries, reach further and endeavour to do the impossible by embracing innovation. By working closely with our trusted business partners for this project we wanted to deliver an activation that’s uniquely innovative and very dynamic in its approach – we couldn’t be more excited to hold this never been done before exhibition and what better prize than the Hyundai Kona Electric for a year.”

“With our mini blimp flying above Newcastle beach the Hyundai Electric Air Exhibition will be a spectacle you won’t want to miss. We can’t wait to see the talented aerialists take to the waves (and skies) and give it their best shot… best of luck to everyone taking part,” says Kevin Goult, Director of Marketing at Hyundai Motor Company Australia.

Hyundai remains the naming rights sponsor to the Hyundai Air Show run before the semi-finals on Sunday 16th May with $1000 for the winner’s club as another great prize awarded to great aerial surfing.

Snapper Rocks Surfriders renowned Aerialist Mitch Parkinson will be trying every trick in his book of above the lip tricks to win himself a set of wheels if nominated as his club’s aerial specialist.

Parkinson said: “ The air show is a crowd favourite over the national final weekend, and now there is a car up for grabs as the first prize, there will be some crazy aerial surfing going down! I will be throwing the kitchen sink at any section I can hoping to stick something huge to take the car home for a year!”
