Le-Ba take out the northern NSW Australian Boardriders Battle qualifier in Coffs Harbour

Published on 18/12/2021

GALLOWS BEACH, COFFS HARBOUR (Saturday, 18 December 2021): Le-Ba Boardriders have taken out their fourth Hyundai Australian Boardriders northern NSW regional qualifier in a row, following a giant day of action-packed heats in wedgey three-foot waves at Gallows Beach.

Le-Ba seemed to be in sync over the entirety of the day with the combined efforts of Mikey McDonagh, Nyxie Ryan, James Wood, Adam Melling and Harry O’Brien carrying the team to a narrow win ahead of Kingscliff boardriders who finished in the runner-up spot. When the final hooter sounded it was Le-Ba who got the win with a 35.84 total compared to Kingscliff on 34.97. Coffs Harbour finished in third position, while Byron Bay finished in fourth.

“As a club, we look forward to this event each and every year,” said Le-Ba club stalwart and captain James Wood. “To win this title for the fourth year in a row against a handful of incredible clubs is such an honour. Let’s hope we can carry the same momentum into the National Final.”
