Zambrero jumps on board with Surfing Australia

Published on 17/12/2021

CASUARINA/NSW(Friday, December 17th/2021): A new partnership between Surfing Australia and Zambrero is set to make positive waves in communities across Australia.

Zambrero has come on board as a support partner to the remaining 2021/22 Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle Series state qualifiers and Grand Final before becoming a presenting partner to the series and the Australian Surfing Awards in 2022 and 2023.

The partnership is focused on fueling grassroots surfing across the country through feel-good healthy eating choices.

Zambrero’s Feel Good Mex approach combines quality, fresh food with its Plate4Plate initiative tackling world hunger. With every regular burrito or bowl purchased a meal is donated to someone in need. Since its inception, the company has donated over 50 million meals, working toward the goal of 1 billion by 2025.

Quote attributed to Surfing Australia Head of Partnerships, Clarissa Pike:

“We’re so stoked to partner with Zambrero who not only offer a fresh, healthy way to refuel after a surf but also have a deeper mission to help end world hunger with their Plate 4 Plate initiative. As a not-for-profit, Surfing Australia relies on commercial partners to deliver our events and programs. Central to this is the need to align with authentic, respectful and progressive brands that are not only a natural fit with surfing, but also create positive change in the world. Zambrero ticks all of these boxes with their “Feel Good” platform and we’re excited to launch into an exciting summer of surfing together starting with the Australian Boardriders Battle”.

Quote attributed to Zambrero Australia CEO Matthew Kenny:

At the heart of Zambrero is a commitment to promoting healthy communities and making a positive impact in the world. There’s never been a more important time to stay active and enjoy the outdoors and we are very excited to be coming on board as a sponsor of Surfing Australia’s Boardriders Battle Series. Australia loves surfing and with many of our 190 plus stores located in coastal areas we know many of our customers, franchise partners, and their communities will be excited about this partnership.”

Quote Attributed to Matt Porm, Director of MJP Projects, who brokered the deal:

“The strategy behind bringing together Zambrero and Surfing Australia was based on the ability to align their values of health, lifestyle and love of the beach. Surfing Australia’s reputation and success in working with like-minded brands has set this partnership well to succeed. For Zambrero, the partnership compliments their trajectory in Australia and provides them with ownership in a cluttered QSR market which is invaluable for the growth of the brand.”
